Ronnie Wood shares update on Mick Jagger’s health following heart surgery

The Rolling Stones frontman reportedly underwent heart valve replacement surgery earlier this month

The Rolling StonesRonnie Wood has said that his bandmate Mick Jagger is “doing well” following heart surgery.

Jagger reportedly underwent heart valve replacement surgery in New York earlier this month, forcing the Stones to postpone a number of North American dates on their ‘No Filter’ tour. Jagger told fans shortly after the procedure that he was “on the mend” as he thanked fans and well-wishers for their messages of support.

Wood has now given a fresh update on Jagger’s health and well-being, telling Hello! magazine that the frontman is continuing to recover.

“Sally [Humphreys, Wood’s wife] and I went on a break to the Caribbean with Keith [Richards] and Patti [Hansen], and we sent him videos of us playing and singing ‘get well’ songs on the guitar,” the guitarist said.

“[Jagger] was amused and impressed!” Wood added. “He is doing really well. I spoke to him yesterday and he’s feeling great.”

Jagger recently made his first public appearance since his surgery as he attended a ballet premiere in New York.

Last week, Wood unveiled a Picasso-inspired painting he’d done to honour his long-running band. The work formed part of the musician’s ‘Abstract Stones’ series which saw him give his artistic take on Picasso’s style.

“I had great fun doing it,” Wood said in a press release. “Picasso did his own take on a lot of artists but I bet he never thought no one would ever do a take on him. I hope and think he’d be flattered, but also a bit shocked and pleasantly surprised at my take on his work.”
