Watch Will Smith square off against himself in new trailer for ‘Gemini Man’

The Ang Lee-directed movie has been in the making for over 20 years

The first trailer for Will Smith’s new film Gemini Man has been released, sharing a glimpse of his character mysteriously squaring off against a younger version of himself – check out the action-packed clip below.

Ang Lee has directed the forthcoming sci-fi drama, which is set for release on October 11. The movie has been in the making for over 20 years, and will star the likes of Clive Owen, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Benedict Wong alongside Smith.

Today’s new trailer (April 23) gives a preview of Lee’s futuristic vision, teeing up a premise where elite assassin Henry Brogen is challenged by a younger, cloned version of himself who seems to know his every move.

Smith plays both parts in the movie, with technology de-aging the star by nearly 25 years for the latter part. “I’m 50 years old now, and I don’t know that I would have had the experience to play a 23-year-old me [earlier in my career],” the actor told attendees at CinemaCon earlier this month (via Variety).

A longer, official premise for the film reads: “Gemini Man is an innovative action-thriller starring Will Smith as Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move.”
