Robyn Crawford to detail her relationship with Whitney Houston in new memoir

'A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston' will be published in November

Robyn Crawford is set to publish a memoir later this year which will explore her close relationship with the late Whitney Houston.

Due to be published on November 5, A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston will see Crawford speak publicly about “the moving and often complicated story of her life and relationship with Whitney” for the first time.

Crawford is described in a press release as “a trusted and loyal friend” of Houston, who passed away in February 2012 at the age of 48. The nature of their relationship has been the subject of speculation for many years, and was recently covered as part of the 2018 documentary Whitney (which Crawford declined to appear in) in a segment where Houston’s sexuality was discussed.

“Since Whitney’s death in 2012, that trusted and loyal friend, Robyn Crawford, has stayed out of the limelight and held the great joys, wild adventures, and hard truths of her life with Whitney close to her heart,” the book’s press release states. “In A Song for You, Robyn breaks her silence to share the moving and often complicated story of her life and relationship with Whitney.

“With warmth, candour, and an impressive recall of detail, Robyn gives readers insight into Whitney’s life and career. She traces the years from when she and Whitney first met as teenagers in the 1980s to the recording of Whitney’s first album and the infinite success that followed,” it continues.

“From countless sold-out world tours to her epic rendition of the US national anthem to the set of The Bodyguard, her tempestuous marriage, and the birth of her only child, Robyn was there.”

Promising the “vital, honest, and previously untold story”, the release concludes: “Finally, the person who knew [Houston] sets the record straight.”
