“Progress abounds”: The Killers share cryptic studio photo as work continues on new album

It's coming...

The Killers have teased details of their next record, after sharing a cryptic photograph from the studio.

The latest snap was posted on social media and shows what appears to be a variety of lyrics song titles, which have been scribbled on a whiteboard.

Potential titles to make it on the new record seemingly include ‘Hear Me Out’, ‘Wild Grass’ and ‘Status Quo’.

Although it’s unclear whether they’re titles or just lyrics from the next record, the board is also scrawled with the phrases ‘It’s Crashing’, ‘A Stupid Prize’ and ‘Long Hand Look’.

It comes after the band posted a studio snap in December 2018, which seemingly confirmed that work is underway on the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Wonderful, Wonderful’.

Speaking to NME earlier this month, frontman Brandon Flowers confirmed that they’re currently holed up in Utah while working on the record.

“We’ve been at it for a few months. The idea is to try and get something that we’re excited about – maybe about one song a week. So far, we’ve hit that target and the list is growing. We’ll take inventory here soon and see what we’ve got,” said Flowers.

Teasing what to expect, he said: “We’ve been in Utah doing it. That’s where I fell in love with music for the first time; so it’s interesting to be there again and hear some of that music with the geography matching the sensation. Some of that stuff is starting to resurface and a lot of that had to do with synthesiser music. It’s always been part of our DNA but it’s definitely creeping up.”

The Killers will return to the UK later this year for a string of huge summer shows – including their third headline spot at Glastonbury Festival.
