Michael Eavis has revealed one of the reasons why Queen won’t be making an appearance at Glastonbury in the near future.
In a new interview, the Glastonbury founder said that their agent had sent him a “hand-written postcard” in an attempt to secure a headline slot for the band.
“It almost worked, I tell you,” he told the BBC. However, he added it was “not quite our thing.”
“We had a whole row with [Queen guitarist] Brian May about the badgers – do you remember all that?” Eavis continued, referring to his dispute with the musician over badger culling. The festival organiser had gone on record in 2013 in support of the cull. Last year, he called May “a danger to farming” and said he “doesn’t know anything about it at all.”
Asked if that was the reason Queen were unlikely to feature on any future Glastonbury line-ups, Eavis replied: “Not really but it does have a bearing on it. I have to say, it does have a bearing on it.”
Glastonbury 2019 will be headlined by Stormzy, The Cure, and The Killers, while Janelle Monáe, Tame Impala, Vampire Weekend, Liam Gallagher, Bastille, Billie Eilish, and more are all booked to perform. A further line-up announcement is expected soon.

Meanwhile, Eavis also dropped a big hint about one of 2020’s potential headliners. “Paul’s on good form at the moment,” he said of Paul McCartney. “[He’s coming here] hopefully for the 50th. Don’t make a big thing of it though, will you?”
Back as far as 2017, Emily Eavis said that they had already booked two headliners for Glasto 2020. Rumoured acts for next year also include Madonna, Arctic Monkeys, The 1975, Fleetwood Mac and Oasis.
