In a new interview, grunge and alt-metal pioneer Buzz Osborne called out Rob Zombie for being a “lower-level fuckhead.”
Talking to Rolling Stone, the Melvins vocalist and guitarist was asked to list his favourite grunge albums. Naming the likes of Nirvana‘s ‘Nevermind’, Soundgarden‘s ‘Badmotorfinger’, Mudhoney‘s ‘Touch Me, I’m Sick’, among others, it was when he brought up Babes in Toyland‘s ‘Spanking Machine’ that the conversation got interesting.
“We played a lot of shows with [Babes in Toyland] back then, and they were always fun,” Osborne recalled. “We did a tour with them and White Zombie, and we both got treated like fucking dogshit on that tour by the powers that be. It was a massively unnecessary situation of pointless rock-star behavior. I don’t know what was going through [Rob Zombie’s] head, but if making enemies is what you set out to do, well, mission accomplished.”
Continuing to discuss Zombie’s actions, he added: “I’ve been around people you would consider a rock star, like the guys in KISS, and they never behaved like that. It just makes you hate lower-level fuckheads like Rob Zombie even more. If I got treated like that by the fucking mailman, I’d hate his guts. So it was fun to have Babes in Toyland along.”
Rob Zombie might not be able to make amends with the Melvins, but he did manage to put to bed his dispute with one-time foe Marilyn Manson. This summer the two will embark on the third outing of their ‘Twins of Evil Tour’, entitled: ‘Twins of Evil: Hell Never Dies’.
The run of North American dates will take place in July and August, kicking off in Baltimore on July 9 and wrapping up in Gilford, New Hampshire on August 18. The duo will perform 24 shows along the way.

Meanwhile, Marilyn Manson, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and Rob Zombie teamed up at a New Year’s Eve Ozzfest event, hosted by Ozzy Osbourne, to cover The Beatles‘ ‘Helter Skelter’.
The cover was officially released in July 2018 by Manson and Zombie who described their version as “heavier, weirder and more groove-oriented.”
