Courtney Love, Charlie XCX, Cat Power, Cupcakke, Megan Thee Stallion, and Ambar Lucid join Lykke for the Saturday, June 6 event held at LA’s Historic Park. Yola Fest is billed as a “celebration of the arts, culture and music by today’s women”.
Posting on Instagram today (April 3), the Swedish soloist wrote: “IT IS FINALLY HAPPENING, MY WOMEN, MY GUITARS! WE WILL GATHER UNDER THE STARS TO SING AND DANCE, AND DRINK AND GRIND, AND FIGHT THE FIGHT! FROM @YOLAMEZCAL AND ME, THIS WILL BE THE PLACE TO BE!”
Tickets go on sale here this Friday, April 5 at 10am PT (6pm BST). A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold will go towards Downtown Women’s Center, an organisation that aims to end women’s homelessness in greater LA.
Lykke’s brand of mezcal, YOLA, which the festival is named after, is the first company to employ and pay women in the Mexican state of Oaxaca directly. In an interview with NME last year, the artist said how her new favourite tipple, provided by “the most gorgeous women she’d ever met”, prompted her mission to “create the first all-female booze brand and take over the world with it”.
