Watch The Killers perform ‘Land Of The Free’ for the first time at special Las Vegas show

The anti-Trump anthem was released back in January

The Killers have performed their recent single ‘Land Of The Free’ live for the first time – check out the video below.

Brandon Flowers and the band, who are gearing up for a return to Glastonbury this June, performed a special show on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (April 1). Taking to the stage at the Zappos Theater in their home city of Las Vegas, the indie outfit ran through a handful of their biggest hits.

Opening the 6-song set – which included ‘Read My Mind’, ‘The Man’, and ‘Mr Brightside’ – was the group’s politically-charged track ‘Land Of The Free’. Flowers sat behind a grand piano for its first outing, backed by the band and a full live choir.

Elsewhere in the show, The Killers took on James Taylor’s 1968 track ‘Carolina in My Mind’. The gig was recorded for broadcast across two episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Meanwhile, Brandon Flowers recently told NME that he hadn’t expected the divisive reaction to ‘Land Of The Free’.

“We’ve got a lot of support and I think people agree with it for the most part,” said the frontman. “I’m just surprised that nobody else wrote it before I did. As soon as Trump was elected, everyone was talking about all of the art that was going to start happening and how exciting it was going to be. I just didn’t really see that.

“Partly out of frustration, I just felt that it was my duty to reflect what’s happening. I’m getting older and you just start to care more about that stuff. I’m having kids and they’re coming of age and I just felt the need to do it.”

Discussing The Killers’ upcoming return to Worthy Farm, Flowers said: “We appreciate the tradition and what it means to headline Glastonbury. It’s huge.”
