Foals to headline tiny Great Escape show to mark 15 years of Transgressive Records

They're heading to the seaside...

Foals will mark 15 years of Transgressive Records by playing a tiny show at the Great Escape next month.

To mark the anniversary of the influential label, the Oxford band will headline Concorde 2 on Friday May 10, supported by Blaenavon and Boniface. Admission won’t be included in the standard weekend tickets for The Great Escape and tickets will instead go on sale at 9am on Wednesday April 3, 2019.

Transgressive co-founder Toby L said: “The Great Escape is easily one of the world’s most progressive and exciting showcase platforms and since Transgressive always endeavours to unearth and support brand new artists that offer something to say, it felt entirely apt to kickstart a year of parties, special releases and other birthday related gimmickry in Brighton at an event we’ve supported since its inception.

He added: “It’s fair to say we wanted to do something pretty big to launch our birthday year, and I guess that’s how / why we’ve landed here… Foals have some incredible history with Concorde 2 and it seemed like an absolute dream to reunite them.”

The tiny Foals gig marks one of their smallest shows to date and comes months after they released ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1’.

In a glowing five star review, NME wrote: “Regardless of where you checked in on Foals’ journey – or, heaven forbid, checked out again – there’s something to sink into on ‘Everything Not Saved… Part 1’. The intricacies and experimentalism of those math-rock early days, the spacey ambience of ‘Total Life Forever’, and the bolshy production brilliance of those last two records: it’s all here. If this is just the first act of ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost’, then this era may just prove to be Foals’ making.”
