Stevie Wonder to headline massive BST Hyde Park show, supported by Lionel Richie

They can feel it all over...

Stevie Wonder has been announced as the latest headliner for British Summer Time 2019, and he’s bringing along Lionel Richie too.

The soul icon will take to the Great Oak stage on July 6 to perform what’s described as a “Celebration of Life, Love and Music” spanning his entire career. Tickets will go on sale from 9AM from Friday 29 March, starting at £69.95 for general admission.

Describing what fans can expect, Stevie said: “We’re living in a time where there’s so much is going on in the world. But the one thing that we know for sure that we can celebrate is life, love and music. I’m very thankful that you all have been so wonderful to me, giving me your life and allowing me to share my music with you since I was 11 years old, which was just a little ago. So, we’re just going to play and have fun.”
James King, the Senior Vice President of AEG Presents, added: “There are headliners, great headliners, line ups, stellar lineups and a thousand other adjectives we use but we will never find the one that correctly
describes what will be happening in Hyde Park on Saturday July 6th. Stevie Wonder is singing his biggest hits for his very own Song Party and for good measure, and to our mutual amazement, joy and wonder, he is also bringing his good friend Lionel Richie. See you down the front.”

Stevie is the last headliner to be announced for British Summer Time 2019 – joining a star studded bill that already includes shows from the likes of Barbra Streisand, Florence & The Machine, Robbie Williams and Celine Dion.
It was previously announced that BST would also host a co-headline show from Bob Dylan & Neil Young, although they dropped their association with the event after Young objected to Barclays sponsoring it.

He criticised BST’s “fossil fuel entity” sponsorship with Barclays, before it was confirmed that the show would go ahead without BST’s backing.
