Mandy Moore has discussed her relationship with ex-husband Ryan Adams in a new interview, following last week’s various claims of sexual misconduct against him.
Adams has been accused by several women of sexual misconduct, manipulation and abuse. Phoebe Bridgers and Moore were among those whose testimonies heavily featured in the revelatory report.
Now, actor and musician Moore (who was married to Adams from 2009-2015) has elaborated on their relationship in a new interview with Marc Maron – admitting that the pair had a “unhealthy dynamic” during their marriage.
“I was living my life for him,” said Moore on Maron’s WTF podcast.
“It [was] an entirely unhealthy dynamic. I had no sense of self.” She continued, “I felt like I was drowning. It was so untenable and unsustainable and it was so lonely. I was so sad. I was lonely with him.”

Moore also says she knew that their relationship couldn’t “sustain itself” while she was busy working, and seemingly implied that Adams’ allegedly controlling behaviour had led her to take on smaller projects.
“I would do little jobs. It’s not like I completely stopped working. I would do things here or there, but it would become abundantly clear while I was working, things would completely fall apart at home,” she explained.
“I couldn’t do my job because there was a constant stream of trying to pay attention to this person who needed me and wouldn’t let me do anything else.”
Although Moore was one of Adams’ leading accusers, the podcast does not fully detail the allegations as it was recorded before they first emerged.
Last week, Adams denied the “extremely serious and outlandish accusations” in a new statement released by his lawyer Andrew B.Brettler. He said they were “grousing by disgruntled individuals” who blamed him for “personal or professional disappointments.”
It was also reported that Adams may now also be facing a criminal investigation from the F.B.I over the allegations, one of which was said to have included an inappropriate relationship with a young fan.
The star is said to have begun “explicit online communications” with the fan when she was aged 14 until she was 16, with the two allegedly “exchanging text messages and conducting video calls that sometimes included nudity.”
Former collaborator Jenny Lewis told her fans that she was “deeply troubled” by the allegations and showed “solidarity” with the accusers, while Bridgers spoke out calling for his ‘network’ of friends and colleagues to be held accountable.
It has also been confirmed that the release of Adams’ next solo album, titled ‘Big Colors’, has been pulled from release following the publication of the allegations. The album was due to come out on April 19 and was set to be one of three album releases Adams had planned for 2019.
