Mariah Carey thought The Chainsmokers were One Direction

Another classic bit of Mariah shade

Mariah Carey once thought The Chainsmokers were One Direction, the EDM duo have revealed.

The DJs and producers shared an anecdote about meeting the pop icon during a recent interview on SiriusXM radio show The Morning Mash Up.

“I remember seeing her and I was like, ‘Oh my god, like ‘Fantasy’ and ‘Honey,’” recalled Alex Pall. “And she was like, ‘Dude, I love you guys.’”

He said he and bandmate Drew Taggart were shocked that she knew who they were and expressed that to her. Carey then responded: “One Direction, right?”

The pop star later continued to rub salt in the wound, sharing a clip of the interview in a tweet with the caption: “Of course I know you!! I love your song ‘that’s what makes you beautiful’!”

It was revealed last month that The Chainsmokers had teamed up with another big act in the studio. The pair announced on their Twitter page that they had just done “a session with Blink-182 and wrote an amazing song.” They added: “We can die happy now.”

Meanwhile, last year Carey shared with her fans that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She was diagnosed in 2001 but said she had “lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose” her.

After she shared the news, she told her followers that she had been “feeling inspired by each of your stories and uplifted by your overwhelming support.”
