The 20-year-old musician, real name Alex O’Connor, dropped the track early this afternoon (February 14) along with a candid note to his fans on Twitter.

Thanking “everyone that is here for me now and [those] who are still here from before”, Rex mused on how “life is weird” in the reflective statement, which you can read in full below.

“It seems like everyone has a difficult time in one way or another,” he wrote. “The greatest things always seem to come with a level of confusion that makes it easy to question whether anything matters…

“With that being said, I must confirm that I still love doing this and that I’m beyond grateful for all the support I’ve been shown. Life is good.”

Co-written with Ben Baptie, ‘New House’ marks one of the first solo songs to be released by Rex since the arrival of his breakthrough second album ‘Apricot Princess’ in April 2017.

Rex has also collaborated with the likes of Tyler, the Creator and Randy Newman in recent years: last year, he reworked the latter’s ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’ with Newman for Spotify’s RISE series.
