Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has shared another preview of his new on-stage mask.
With a new album from the legendary masked metallers set to drop in August, Taylor had previously revealed that he was working with celebrated horror special effects specialist Tom Savini (Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead, Friday 13th) for the next design of his iconic headwear.
Taylor gave fans a sneak-peek at his new mask with an out-of-focus shot of the eye of his mask, which he uploaded to Instagram over the weekend (April 20). The post carried the caption “Soon.”

Back in February, Taylor shared the below images of himself in a make-up chair while a make-up crew took a mould of his face.
“He’s the godfather to me,” Taylor explained of working with Savini. “[I] got to hang out with him, got to talk with him. Met him through a friend who actually works with him.

“And the three of us were kind of developing this new mask together so I’m kind of fucking chuffed on that.”
The singer has previously worked with Japanese special effects artist Screaming Mad George on his ‘Iowa’ and ‘Vol. 3’ masks, but has joined forced with an array of other artists in the years since.
Speaking to Metal Mania Radio about the meaning and evolution of the band’s masks, Taylor said in 2014: “With every album, some of us have evolved our masks more dramatically than others, but there’s always a difference, they’ve always changed a little bit, and [‘.5: The Gray Chapter’] is no exception. I mean, I think mine and Clown’s and Sid’s have changed the most, because it’s evolution.”
He continued: “This band evolves with every album, and it just makes sense that our masks [would as well], because we’re not the same people. It’s not something that we sit down and we talk about as a group, we just kind of do it. As unified as we all are, the mask is really something that we trust each other to do individually and we trust them to do the right representation.”
Meanwhile, Slipknot will return to the UK to headline Download Festival 2019 alongside Tool and Def Leppard this June.
