Bring Me The Horizon have scored their first ever UK Number One album with ‘amo’.
The band’s sixth album, named after the Portuguese word for “I love”, shot to the top of the charts with 27,000 combined sales. 61% of its sales this week are physical CD or vinyl purchases, according to the Official Charts Company.
In a statement, the band said: “Thank you to everyone in the UK for getting our new album ‘amo’ to Number 1. Thanks for buying it and streaming it and showing us support – it really means a lot to us. Thank you very much, we love you.” ‘amo’ recently received five stars from the NME, which described the record as “an odyssey of diversity in sound, proof that they can do what they want and get away with it.
The Sheffield band have bettered their chart debut with each release: their first album in 2006 ‘Count Your Blessings’ peaked at Number 93, while their last record, 2015’s ‘That’s The Spirit’, reached Number Two.
Three of the album’s tracks also feature in this week’s Official Singles Chart Top 100: ‘Medicine’ at 48, ‘Mother Tongue’ at 68 and ‘Nihilist Blues’ at 77
In the singles chart, Ariana Grande remains at Number One for a second week with ‘7 Rings’.

The hit racked up more than 10.4 million listens over the last seven days.
It finished the week with 27,000 combined sales ahead of its closest competition, former Number One ‘Sweet But Psycho’ by Ava Max.
Meanwhile, Bring Me The Horizion are among a dozen artists playing tiny venues this month in aid of War Child.
They will play the 500-capacity Dome on February 19.
Tickets are on sale via a raffle at the BRITS Week War Child website with entry costing £5. Fans can enter to buy for as many gigs as many times as they like. The closing date is 11.59pm on February 4. A limited number of tickets go on sale on Friday (January 18) from the site at 9am.
