Paul McCartney thinks a bottle of whisky only costs £2, according to his official biographer.
Barry Miles, who wrote the 1997 biography of the Beatle, Many Years From Now, has explained how McCartney had tried to stay in touch with “ordinary people” despite his global fame.
“He desperately wanted to be a normal person,” Miles told the Express. “Wherever possible he would take a bus somewhere…and was very anxious to stay in touch with what he regarded as ordinary people.”
Miles then went on to share an anecdote which showed that McCartney hadn’t quite managed to keep tabs on the cost of things in the 21st century. “I remember just a few years ago when I was at his studio he asked one of the roadies to go out and buy him a bottle of whisky because he had people coming over,” Miles said. “And he gave him £2.
“And the roadie said, ‘Well, it’s gone up since then, Paul.’ In the end, you can’t be normal. You can’t be that famous for that many years and still be in touch with ordinary people.”
Yesterday (January 30), it was announced The Beatles had teamed up with Sir Peter Jackson to create a new film documenting the band’s final days.

The movie is based around 55 hours of never-released footage of the Fab Four in the studio as they worked on their final album, ‘Let It Be’. It will culminate with their final gig, which was held on the rooftop of their Apple HQ 50 years ago.
