Interpol have shared a surprise new song ‘Fine Mess’. Check it out below.
Following a similar vein to their acclaimed 2018 album ‘Marauder‘, the single leans towards the band’s more raucous and rock-driven side of their dark post punk, as frontman Paul Banks vividly paints a picture of a doomed partnership chasing decadence.
As Banks puts it, the lyrics are about “a sanguine and starry pair, buoyed and dashed alike by their own dreams and appetites”.
“I like to tour the ’80s,” sings Banks in the intro, “but I got sideswiped and and came right to ’78. My life is pro creation; well if the mood’s right, there’s hype, some currency.”
This comes as the Interpol gear up for a busy 2019. They recently announced June shows in Leeds and Brighton (which has sparked Glastonbury rumours) and they’re also on the line-up for The Strokes’ headline show at All Points East in London this May.

On Saturday May 25, Interpol and The Strokes play Victoria Park, along with Johnny Marr, Parquet Courts, Jarvis Cocker, Courtney Barnett, Connan Mockasin, Anna Calvi, Bakar, The Nude Party, and Viagra Boys – with many more to be announced.
