Porn site takes stand after increase in searches for R Kelly sex video

"The tape is both iIIegaI and immoral."

A pornography website in the US has announced that it has been forced to block searches for R.Kelly, after a disturbing documentary on the singer saw a massive increase in the amount of people searching his name.

The Surviving R.Kelly documentary aired earlier this month and featured contributions from a wide selection of women who have accused Kelly of sexual misconduct. He has constantly denied any wrongdoing.

Now, US porn site xHamster has announced that it has been forced to suspend a series of search terms relating to Kelly, after the documentary focused on a sex tape that sparked his arrest on child pornography charges in 2002. The same charges eventually led to a trial that saw Kelly being acquitted in 2008.

In an official release, xHamster confirmed that searches relating to both Kelly and the sex tape had risen by 388% in the weeks following the documentary.

xHamster president Alex Hawkins said: “The R Kelly tape is not on xHamster, nor would we ever allow it to be.

“As we do with other similar content, we will be disabling searches and putting up messages alerting any searchers that this is not acceptable.”

Yesterday, Chance The Rapper and Celine Dion were the latest artists to pull their collaborations with Kelly from streaming sites, following on from Lady Gaga last week.
