Lady Gaga has paid an emotional tribute to her dying horse, after leaving the Critics Choice Awards to be with the beloved animal.
The singer took home the best actress award for her acclaimed turn in A Star Is Born, sharing the honour with Glenn Close for her performance in The Wife.
But straight after delivering her acceptance speech, Gaga left the ceremony to spend time with pet horse Arabella, who had fallen critically ill.
“I am so honoured and blessed to have won both Best Song and Best Actress alongside Glenn Close this evening,” wrote Gaga on Twitter.

“My heart is exploding with pride. But it saddens me to say that just after the show I learned that my dear angel of a horse, Arabella, is dying. I am rushing to her now to say goodbye.”
Gaga added: “Her name means ‘yield to a prayer’. She is and was a beautiful horse. Our souls and spirits were one. When she was in pain, so was I.

“I will never forget the moments we shared. Long hikes together, galloping through the canyons. Feeding her cookies.
“She will forever be a part of me. I am so very sad. But I wish for your pain to end, and the gates of heaven to open for you.
“I love you. Girl, where do you think you’re goin?”
Responding to the post, one fan wrote: “Gaga, i hope so much u get well soon, losing an animal that we love is a sad moment, but their souls are pure and they will be in a good place, we love u mother monster.”
Gaga’s latest triumph at the Critics Choice Awards comes after she failed to pick up any acting accolades at the Golden Globes.
Accepting her award at the Critics Choice Awards, she said: “I am so honored by this. I went to places in my mind and in my heart that I did not know existed or that I could.
“Thank you so much to the BFCA. This is a tremendous honour. I feel honoured not just for my performance but for the inner work it took for the creation of this character.”
