Foals have instructed fans to “watch this space” after starting a mysterious countdown on their social media which is set to finish this afternoon – sparking speculation among fans about what the big news could be.
The long-awaited follow-up to August 2015’s ‘What Went Down’ – the Oxford band’s fourth studio album – finally looks like it’ll arrive later this year, with the first early details about the release emerging late in 2018.
It now appears that a big Foals announcement is set to be made today (January 9). Posting on their Instagram Story, a countdown titled “watch this space” is currently counting down and is set to finish at 3pm today. See a screenshot of the countdown below.

It is not yet known whether the countdown will conclude with the announcement – or indeed release – of new music.
Foals have already started building a tour schedule for 2019, with the band so far confirmed as headliners of This Is Tomorrow in Newcastle and Croatia’s INmusic festival. It is possible that the big countdown in question could have been set ahead of the announcement of some big festival or touring news.
