Guided By Voices announce first UK gig in 15 years and share new single ‘The Rally Boys’

The lo-fi legends return

Guided By Voices have announced their first UK gig in over 15 years, as well as unveiling their new single ‘The Rally Boys’. See details of the show and the new track on NME first below.

The alt-rock veterans legends return next month with new double album ‘Zeppelin Over China’ arriving on February 1. The latest offering from Robert Pollard and co comes teased by new single ‘The Rally Boys’, a typically short and sharp blast of cinematic pop-rock.

To celebrate their return, Guided By Voices will play their first UK gig in over 15 years at London’s Village Underground on June 5. Tickets will be on sale 10 on Friday January 11 and will be available here. This follows their previously announced appearance at Primavera Sound 2019, which marks their first European gig in a decade and a half.

At 32 songs and 75 minutes, ‘Zeppelin Over China’ is described as “a grand album of emotional resonance and narrative drama”, with Pollard welcoming the latest line-up of Doug Gillard (guitar), Kevin March (drums), Mark Shue (bass) and Bobby Bare Jr. (guitar). Pre-order the album here.

The ever prolific lo-fi legends with an ever-shifting line-up have released 25 albums to date. After splitting in 2004, the ‘classic’ line-up returned in 2010 to perform at the Matador Records 21st anniversary party, before touring and releasing six new albums. They split again in 2014, before returning with their latest incarnation to tour and release more music in 2016.
