The Spice Girls have reportedly turned down the chance for a lucrative US tour, amid fears that it could re-open old wounds in the iconic girl group.
The band, minus Victoria Beckham, will reunite for a string of stadium shows in the UK and Ireland this summer, their first in more than a decade.
But while it was initially hoped that some international dates might be in the offing, The Sun reports that plans for a US tour might not be as straightforward as first thought.
“Promoters have offered them lengthy tours across North America but they fear it will eat up too much time in 2019,” a source told the publication. “The UK shows will be massive and very special so they are apprehensive about doing more in the US because they know from experience how long stints together on the road can cause tensions.”
The source added: “They did 47 shows on the last tour which was very hard going and resulted in dates in South America, Australia, Asia and Africa being cancelled.
“They all have families who they need to consider, they aren’t single women who can drop everything and go. At the moment they are looking at the possibility of doing a few shows in the US in July and August when their kids will be on their school holidays so could come on tour with them.”

It’s also claimed that Mel B’s work commitments as a judge on America’s Got Talent could prove to be a problem too.
“In terms of new music as a group, they are all in various stages of relaunching their solo careers, which makes it very unlikely,” the source added.
Last month, Mel B admitted that she was up for the group performing at Coachella. Asked by TMZ if an appearance at the huge California event is on the cards, Mel B replied: “I would love that.”
