Kylie Minogue confirmed for the legends slot at Glastonbury 2019

Bringing the locomotion to Worthy Farm...

Kylie Minogue has been confirmed as the next act for Glastonbury 2019, where she’ll take on the esteemed legends slot.

The pop icon will appear on the Sunday of the iconic festival (June 30), performing on the Pyramid Stage in the teatime slot that has previously played host to the likes of Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Neil Diamond.

The performance also marks Kylie’s debut at Glastonbury, some 14 years after treatment for breast cancer forced her to pull out of a headline appearance.

Confirming the show, Kylie wrote on Twitter: “I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing the ‘Legend slot’ on Sunday 30th June at @GlastoFest 2019. It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can’t wait to see you all there to share this special show.”

Her much-delayed Glastonbury debut was previously rumoured earlier this year, after the singer herself admitted that she was eager to perform.

“When I was supposed to do it I think I would have been the first solo female to headline in however many years it was, so I was really proud of that at that time,” she said.

“Obviously it didn’t happen. So yes, it would be amazing and very emotional to be standing there and doing what I didn’t get to do all those years ago, for sure.”

She’s the second act to be confirmed for the festival’s 2019 edition, after it was last month revealed that Stormzy will top the Pyramid Stage on Friday night.

Other rumoured acts include Paul McCartney, The Cure, Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys, and more.
