Peter Murphy, the frontman of influential post-punk band Bauhaus, was reportedly ejected from his own gig in Stockholm on Wednesday night (December 12) after throwing bottles at the crowd.
Murphy was performing on a tour celebrating 40 years of Bauhaus, who formed in 1978. He is joined for the shows by the band’s original bassist David J.
A Swedish website, Aftonbladet, claims that one fan was sent to hospital after Murphy “Went berserk on stage, crashing a lamp as well as attacking fans and venue staff with with different items.”
They say Murphy “had walked off the stage at the end of the show complaining about the feedback in his earpiece. He had come back seemingly calm but suddenly started to throw glasses and bottles towards the mixer board, leaving a fan with scars in his face.”
A picture posted on Facebook seems to show the singer being restrained by the side of a road by police officers. The photographer is currently unknown.

Afftonbladet say that Stockholm police have filed a report of assault. “It regards causing bodily injury, a man who was injured in there. He says that he has had something thrown at him from the stage,” said Investigator Stefan Persson .
According to Brooklyn Vegan, the concert promoters made the following statement: “With one more song planned, the artists tour manager and technician decided to end yesterday’s concert with Peter Murphy since technical equipment had been destroyed due to incidents we at Nalen take very seriously.
“The artist acted in an unacceptable way towards the audience and our staff. We are currently trying to sort the situation out. If anyone in the audience got injured in any way, we would like you to contact us and report to the police. We also want to say thanks to the guests who helped us at Nalen and others in the audience.”
Murphy has yet to comment on the incident.
