Courtney Love gets restraining order against former manager

Documents claim Sam Lutfi harassed Love by email, text and phone

Courtney Love has won a temporary restraining order against her former manager Sam Lutfi, after filing documents which claimed Lutfi had persistently been harassing the Hole singer.

Love filed documents at court in Los Angeles stating that Lutfi had been harassing the singer and her family by persistently demanding money from Love in a series of emails, text messages and phone calls.

Los Angeles Superior Court has granted Love the temporary restraining order, which forbids Lutfi from contacting Love and her daughter Frances Bean Cobain. Lutfi is forbidden from going within 100 yards of the pair.

Love’s lawyer Harold King said in a statement: “The Cobains are grateful for the anti-harassment order issued by Los Angeles Superior Court against Mr Lutfi, and the powers it provides law enforcement to assure that Mr Lutfi terminates all contact with the family.”

Lutfi previously managed Britney Spears, settling out of court in 2016 following a seven-year battle in which he argued that Spears’ family had damaged his reputation by criticising how he handled her business affairs before they parted ways in 2009.

In a twist in the Love case, Lutfi and Love are being jointly sued by Frances Bean’s ex-husband Isaiah Silva. Silva claimed in May that Love and Lutfi orchestrated a break-in at his house to retrieve a guitar once owned by Love’s then-husband Kurt Cobain, who was married to Love until his death by suicide in 1994.

Love has released one solo album, 2004’s ‘America’s Sweetheart’, and last released an album when Hole reformed for two years from 2009-11. This resulted in their fourth album, ‘Nobody’s Daughter’, in 2010.
