Kanye West apologises after he’s caught on his phone during Cher musical

"If you look up from your cell phone you’ll see we’re doing a show up here"

Kanye West has apologised after he was caught texting during the opening night of a Broadway musical based on the music of Cher.

The rapper offered a rare apology on Twitter after he was caught texting during The Cher Show on Broadway.

Kanye had attended the opening performance at New York’s Neil Simon Theatre with wife Kim Kardashian, although it seems like his attentions were firmly elsewhere.

Only an hour into the show, Kanye was called out by Jarrod Spector, who plays Sonny Bono.

“Hey @kanyewest so cool that you’re here at @TheCherShow! If you look up from your cell phone you’ll see we’re doing a show up here”, Jarrod tweeted.

“It’s opening night. Kind of a big deal for us. Thanks so much.”

But instead of offering an impassioned defence, Kanye instead went for an unexpected slice of humble pie.

“The dynamics of Cher and Sonny’s relationship made Kim and I grab each other’s hand and sing ‘I got you babe'”, he replied.

“Please pardon my lack of etiquette. We have so much appreciation for the energy you guys put into making this master piece.”

According to TMZ, Kanye and Kim were also supposed to leave the show during the interval, but instead opted to push back their flight by several hours to watch the whole thing.

A representative for Kanye subsequently confirmed that he wasn’t texting, but was instead using his phone to take notes on the performance after it blew him away.

Meanwhile, Kanye West was recently caught “stealing” from a fashion show he attended with his wife Kim Kardashian, in a clip uploaded to her Instagram story.

The couple were attending a show for luxury brand Versace when one of the catwalk models’ earrings fell to the floor in front of them, with the rapper immediately pocketing the expensive jewellery.
