Couple ejected from Machine Head gig after having sex in the front row

You can only admire them for keeping pace

A couple have been ejected from a Machine Head concert in San Diego for reportedly having sex in the front row.

The couple were removed by security from the show at the city’s House Of Blues venue, which the rockers said was “complete insanity”.

It was the first time Machine Head had played in San Diego since 2001. The band said on their Instagram: “Holy freakin’ shit! When a guy and a gal get ejected for having sex during ‘Davidian’ (in the front row no less), you know it’s complete insanity. Wow! What a welcome back you gave us, we are blown away!”

The tour is the final shows which guitarist Phil Demmel and drummer Dave McClain will play with the metallers, who have vowed they will continue without the two band members. The band formed in Oakland, California, in 1991. Demmel has played with Machine Head since 2003, while McClain has been with the band for 25 years.

Their Instagram post about the San Diego show continued: “San Diego – after an 11-year break from each other, you are officially unfired. Hands down the best show we have ever played in your amazing city, and one of the wildest and rowdiest of the entire tour. Thank you all so much for an unforgettable night of raging!”

Founder member Robb Flynn had insisted the split with Demmel and McClain was “amicable”, admitting in a Facebook video in October that bassist Jared MacEachran had also “kinda quit” but was unsure whether or not to continue after the final shows with Demmel and McClain. A replacement for the drummer and guitarist have yet to be announced. Machine Head last toured the UK in May this year.

The US tour, in support of the ‘Catharsis’ album, ended on Saturday in Santa Cruz.
