First look at ‘The Inbetweeners’ 10th anniversary special, ‘Fwends’

The stars share the first images from the set of their reunion show, airing on New Year's Day

The cast of The Inbetweeners are reuniting to mark 10 years since the hugely popular sitcom first aired.

James Buckley, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison will head up a two-hour celebration show featuring a selection of previously unseen footage, classic clips and offerings from famous fans of the iconic sitcom.

The gang have shared some new images from the set of ‘Fwends’, the title of the one-off special which airs on January 1, 2019.

Harrison, who also shared the promo image on Twitter, joked about how he and his co-stars have changed in the last decade. In the caption he wrote: “Father Time waits for no one” with a grey-haired emoji at the end.

The Inbetweeners followed the exploits of the Rudge Park High School boys, ran for three series between 2008-10. The small screen success was then followed with two big screen spin offs in 2011 and 2014.

Some of the sitcom’s funniest moments will also be ranked in an awards segment that features categories such as ‘best ever moment’ and ‘best sex scene’.

Tom Beck, Channel 4’s head of live events and commissioning editor for entertainment, said: “Will, Jay, Simon and Neil spent years failing to sneak into the best parties, so I’m very pleased to throw one that they’re definitely invited to.

“I just hope Will brings his Mum.”

Co-executive producer Will Macdonald added: “The love for The Inbetweeners is huge, the kind of love that Jay would boast he’s had many times – big celebrities, millions of viewers and loving fans from across the globe.

“And it’s so exciting the boys will be back together to feel that love from all those people and enjoy it first-hand. What could possibly go wrong?”

Despite returning for a celebration show, Blake Harrison admitted earlier this year that it’s unlikely that the show will ever return for a fourth series.

“I just don’t think it would work”, he admitted.

Meanwhile, James Buckley recently admitted he thinks that the show would be deemed too offensive in 2018.
