Lady Gaga evacuated from her home as California wild fires continue

"I'm wondering if my home will burst into flames"

Lady Gaga has become the latest musician to be evacuated from her home as the California wild fires continue to cause damage across the state.

As BBC News reports, more than 250,000 in the state have had to flee from their homes to avoid three major blazes. Nine people have lost their lives. “The magnitude of the destruction of the fire is unbelievable and heartbreaking,” said California governor’s office’s Mark Ghilarducci.

Lady Gaga first took to Instagram to show her and her team packing up cars as smoke billowed in the background. “Sending my prayers to everyone today”, she wrote. She also later posted an update on Twitter: “I am thinking so deeply for everyone who is suffering today from these abominable fires & grieving for the loss of their homes or loved ones.”

She continued: “I’m sitting here with many of you wondering if my home will burst into flames.”

Yesterday, it was revealed that Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker was also caught up in the California wildfires, forcing him to evacuate a Malibu home where he was recording new music.

“RIP to all this gear (and someone’s beautiful house) in Malibu,” he said. “I made it out with my laptop and the Hofner [guitar]. My heart breaks for the wildlife.”

Elsewhere, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s Malibu home has also been affected. “I heard the flames have hit our property at our home in Hidden Hills but now are more contained and have stopped at the moment,” Kardashian said. In a later post, she told her followers: “We are all safe and that’s all that matters.” Lil Pump also posted a video of the incident along with a series of videos showing his evacuation from his home.

Meanwhile, it was reported earlier today that the set of Westworld has burned down after the wildfires spread to the Paramount Ranch.

A statement from HBO read: “Westworld is not currently in production, and as the area has been evacuated, we do not yet know the extent of the damage to any structures remaining there…Most importantly, our thoughts go out to all those affected by these horrible fires.”

Lady Gaga’s evacuation comes just days after the singer delivered a passionate speech on mental health and suicide, saying “we are losing a generation of young people.”

The ‘Shallow’ singer addressed the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s 3rd annual Patron of the Artists Awards, at which she was honoured. Her 23-minute acceptance speech for wining the Artists Inspiration Award covered her own mental health issues, her fears for young musicians and artists struggling to voice their struggles, and her plans to build future programmes.
