Chris Evans has confirmed that he’s filmed his final scenes as Captain America today (October 4).
Writing on Twitter, Evans, who has played the role for eight years, said it had been “an honour” to play the role.
He said: “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honour.
“To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

Earlier this year, Evans announced that he was ready to leave his role as the superhero in Marvel’s cinematic universe, telling New York Times he expects it to be his last in Captain America’s red, white and blue suit. “You want to get off the train before they push you off,” he said.
The actor has played Captain America since the 2011 movie, Captain America: The First Avenger. The next instalment in the Avengers series is as yet untitled, but is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
Last year, Marvel boss Kevin Feige said Avengers 4 will be a “finale” for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an interview, he said the film will be a major moment in the canonical universe, and will “bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale.”
