Arctic Monkeys release haunting cover of untitled Stephen Fretwell track

It's continuing the 'Tranquility Base...' vibes

Arctic Monkeys have released their very own take on a 2004 track from songwriter Stephen Fretwell.

The cover, which is known only as ‘-‘, was recorded by the band for a new Spotify Singles session.

The new offering was revealed on Spotify late last night, and it sees the band continuing to channel the ‘Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino’ vibes with Alex Turner huddled over a classic piano.

As well the cover of the Fretwell track, the band also recorded a live take on ‘Four Out Of Five’. You can listen to both performances below.

Fretwell previously collaborated with Alex Turner as a bassist in the Last Shadow Puppets. He is perhaps best known for recording ‘Run’, the title track from acclaimed sitcom Gavin & Stacey.

Meanwhile, Arctic Monkeys are currently in the middle of their UK tour – taking in a four night residency at The O2 before travelling around the rest of the country.

As they performed on Sunday night, Miles Kane arrived on stage for a now-traditional duet of ‘505’ with the group. 

The show also them opening with ‘Four Out Of Five’ once more, before heading straight into the furious strains of ‘Brianstorm’.

The tour began in Manchester last week, and saw them giving live debuts to ‘Science Fiction’, as well as the first performance of ‘Dancing Shoes’ since 2014.
