Arctic Monkeys’ odds of headlining Glastonbury 2019 have been slashed

"The way Alex Turner’s band is being backed suggests they’re a likely performer."

Arctic Monkeys‘ odds of headlining Glastonbury next year have plunged, making the band among the favourites to play Worthy Farm in 2019.

Alex Turner and co. have shot from 9/2 odds to 11/4, placing them as fourth favourites behind frontrunner Kendrick Lamar (7/4), Elton John (9/4) and Kylie Minogue (5/2)

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “We’re keeping a very close eye on the Glastonbury headliner betting at the moment. Kendrick Lamar was strongly supported in the betting earlier this summer, while Stormzy was the man that everyone wanted to back last week.”

“Today, we’ve seen plenty of interest for the Arctic Monkeys and have had to cut their odds to 11/4 from 9/2. As things stand, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John and Kylie Minogue occupy the three spots up for grabs, but the way Alex Turner’s band is being backed suggests they’re a likely performer.”

Also on the list of favourites are Stormzy (7/2), Fleetwood Mac (9/2) and ABBA (5/1). No names have been officially confirmed yet, but Emily Eavis did drop a couple of huge clues earlier this year. She said that the Legend’s Slot will be filled by a “non-British female”, and that Paul McCartney is “top of their list” to headline.

Meanwhile, a fake Glastonbury poster started doing the social media rounds earlier this week, and placed McCartney, Madonna and Lady Gaga as its three headliners.

“This looks fire AF,” wrote one music fan on Instagram, while another said “if some of these are on the line up we have to save up and go.”

Others however, were less than enthused.

“Absolute shite so probably true,” wrote one Instagram user. “Good job it’s amazing whatever the line up.”

Another added: “Imagine not putting Arctic Monkeys on this.”
