Watch Richard Ashcroft surprise fans with Liam Gallagher support slot at huge Finsbury Park show

The Verve star surprised fans with a last-minute acoustic set

Richard Ashcroft popped up with a surprise set at Liam Gallagher‘s Finsbury Park show last night (June 29).

The gig marked the Oasis frontman’s biggest solo show to date and support from the likes of Wolf Alice, Loyle Carner and The Sherlocks had already been confirmed.

However, rumours of an acoustic set from Ashcroft began circulating after the leak of an alleged stage times sheet. You can see that below.

Fans weer also tweeting that they’d spotted Ashcroft walking around the Finsbury Park site. Earlier this week, Gallagher also praised Ashcroft, tweeting “Richard Ashcroft proper front man not many of us left.”

According to the official stage times, Wolf Alice will perform at 18:50 with Gallagher beginning his set at 20:55. Fans believed there is too big of a gap between the two, prompting more rumours of Ashcroft’s set.

Ashcroft was also one of the artists to support The Rolling Stones earlier this month. Gallagher supported them on their opening night back in May.

The pair also toured North America together last month and Ashcroft previously supported Gallagher on his gigs in Malahide Castle and Gardens in Dublin on June 15 as well as the Belsonic at Ormeau Park in Belfast on June 16.

Gallagher previously teased one of the support acts for the Finsbury Park show in the summer, describing the artist in question as a “biblical brother”.
