Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro and Corey Taylor among winners at Kerrang! Awards

The Foo's took away two awards with Biffy Clyro beating Royal Blood and Iron Maiden to win Best British Band

Some of the biggest stars in rock gathered at the Islington Assembly Hall tonight (21 June) for the Kerrang! Awards.

The Foo Fighters took away two awards including one for Best International Live Act and Best International Band.

Meanwhile, Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro took home the award for Best British Band beating Royal Blood and Iron Maiden to the title following their recent MTV Unplugged album.

Co-founder of Aerosmith, Joe Perry received the Kerrang! Inspiration Award, presented to him by Johnny Depp. Perry, together with Alice Cooper and Depp make up rock supergroup The Hollywood Vampires.

Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi received the Kerrang! Icon award in recognition of his pioneering work as one of the founders of the heavy metal genre. Elsewhere, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor won the Kerrang! Legend award.

Brighton Tech Metal band Architects won Best British Live Act and agit-rockers Enter Shikari won best album for ‘The Spark’.

New bands were also recognised at the awards with Welsh quintet Dream State winning Best British Breakthrough act. International Breakthrough Act went to Code Orange, a hardcore outfit from Pittsburgh.

Kerrang! editor Sam Coare said: “What a rollercoaster from start to finish! …It’s a privilege to shine a light on breakthrough acts Dream State and Code Orange as well as homegrown heroes like Enter Shikari, Biffy Clyro and Architects.”
