Manic Street Preachers announced for Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park Festival

The Manics will perform at Radio 2's 'Festival in a Day' this September

It was announced today (14.06.18) that The Manic Street Preachers will play at BBC Radio 2’s ‘Festival in a Day’ on September 9.

The event, which takes place over one day at Hyde Park, will also see the Welsh band joined by All Saints, Carrie Underwood, The Band of Love, Rita Ora and Lenny Kravitz.

The headliner for the event will be announced on Friday (15.06.18) during the Chris Evans breakfast show.

Following the release of their thirteenth studio album, ‘Resistance is Futile’ back in April, the band have toured extensively over the UK and recently supported rock legends Guns N’ Roses on tour on a handful of dates across Europe.

Speaking to the NME about their latest album earlier this year, Nicky Wire said it was “definitely not nostalgic, it’s not hankering back to some golden age,” as the band looked back on almost thirty years in the industry.

Wire added: “It’s just a cold look to things that are gone that are never going to be filled again. A reminder that you should cherish certain things before they disappear forever – but also survival in terms of us navigating our way through our personal and band lives and trying to keep everything together.”

“We’re trying to stimulate ourselves and the outside world, while passing on those things that have made our lives so much better. That passion and love that we want to pass on to an audience.”
