Stormzy and Ed Sheeran lead winners of The Ivor Novello Awards 2018

Dave was also recognised today (May 31) for his powerful Grenfell Tower-referencing song 'Question Time'

Stormzy and Ed Sheeran are among the big winners at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards.

The ceremony for the 2018 edition of the awards, which recognise and reward “excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing” and are said to represent “the pinnacle of musical achievement and peer recognition”, took place in London today (May 31).

Stormzy picked up the Album award for his debut LP ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’, which came out in February 2017. Sheeran was honoured with the gong for Most Performed Work for his track ‘Shape Of You’.

Dave won Best Contemporary Song for his powerful and poignant track ‘Question Time’, which referenced the Grenfell Tower disaster of June 2017 and took aim at Prime Minister Theresa May’s response to the fire.
