Chromatics’ Johnny Jewel surprise releases new album ‘Themes For Television’

Chromatics‘ Johnny Jewel has surprise released new album ‘Themes For Television’ to coincide with the one year anniversary of Twin Peaks: The Return. Check it out below.

As well as sharing the enigmatic video for the track ‘Red Door’, today sees Jewel share 21 tracks that he wrote when working on material for the show as a record on streaming services. A physical release will follow on June 29 via his label, Italians Do It Better.

“I was about a year deep into recording what would become Windswept when I heard that David was making Season three,” said Jewel. “It’s been a year since Chromatics performed at the Roadhouse. With disintegrated memory through the haze of television snow, I wanted to share a glimpse behind the red curtain.”

“The project began as a sonic exploration of the sounds I was hearing in my nightmares. I wanted to find my way out of the maze by focusing on beauty over fear — like the way the fractured sunrise looks in a dream.”

Meanwwhile, Chromatics recently confirmed the release of their new long-awaited new album ‘Dear Tommy‘. The Portland electronic outfit first announced the highly-anticipated LP back in 2014. However, it was reported last year that Johnny Jewel had destroyed all physical copies of the new material following a near-death experience. It’s believed that he then re-recorded the songs.

The album follows 2012’s acclaimed ‘Kill For Love’ and will arrive in the Autumn.

Meanwhile, earlier this year saw the network Showtime reveal that they were open to making more episodes of Twin Peaks with creator David Lynch.

“I don’t know how soon he wants to do [more],” said Showtime programming president Gary Levine. “The door is always open to Mark and David for Twin Peaks — or anything else they want to talk about.”
