Damon Albarn causes panic after ‘leaving master copy of new Gorillaz album in taxi’

Oops.

Damon Albarn reportedly caused a panic after he left a laptop containing a master copy of the new Gorillaz album in the back of a taxi.

Having previously confirmed plans for a new record in 2018, The Mirror reports that the Blur frontman left the laptop in the back of a taxi after he went drinking at London’s Groucho Club.

“It was a disaster. Damon oversees everything and, with Gorillaz, it’s not just audio – it’s the expensive visuals as well. The laptop’s contents are priceless”, a source told the publication.

“But after a night at Groucho, Damon accidentally left it in a cab and caused a huge panic.”

The source also claims that the album is strongly inspired by Albarn’s strong anti-Brexit views and will be released next month.

““It’s a really personal project because the album is very politically charged. A lot of his opinions on Brexit filter through it”, the source claimed.

Thankfully, a crisis was eventually averted when the taxi driver returned the laptop to Damon after realising his mistake.

The politically charged album comes only months after Damon spoke out against Brexit at the BRIT Awards.

Accepting the award for Best British Group, he said: “I’ve got one thing to say and it’s about this country. This country is, believe it or not, quite a small, little thing but it’s a lovely place, and it’s part of a beautiful world.”

“Don’t let it become isolated,” he added.

“Don’t let yourselves become cut off. Considering our size, we do some incredible things in music. We got a real spirit and a real soul. Don’t let politics get in the way of that shit.”
