Selena Gomez shares new song ‘Back To You’ and says she’s taking her health ‘one step at a time’

The star had a kidney transplant last year after suffering from lupus

Selena Gomez has shared a new track called ‘Back To You’ and discussed her health in a new interview.

The star released four singles last year in ‘It Ain’t Me’, the Talking Heads sampling ‘Bad Liar’, ‘Fetish’, and ‘Wolves’. She is believed to be working on her third solo album.

‘Back To You’, meanwhile, will feature on the official soundtrack for 13 Reasons Why season 2. Gomez is an executive producer on the controversial series. Speaking to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, she said: “I want it to be a beautiful message in a really complicated way, but really fun.” Listen to the track below.

The singer also discussed her health in the interview. Last year, she had a kidney transplant after suffering from autoimmune disease lupus. “I have been super honest and I’ve been very aware of my platform and I don’t try to hide any part of flaws that are in me,” she said. “So I think it’s just helpful because I now think that people ask in a really genuine way and I feel the best I’ve felt, just for now.

“I’m hoping to keep beating it,” she continued. “But I’m super happy. I take really good care of myself. And yes, it’s just sometimes it’s hard, you know. You’ll never really get over stuff. You kind of just have to get better and better and work on it. It’s one step at a time.”

Earlier this year, Francia Raisa – Gomez’s friend who donated a kidney to her – revealed how the star could have died following the transplant surgery. “A few hours after our surgery, I woke up and had a text from her that said, ‘I’m really scared’,” she said.

“My kidney was very active, and when it turned I broke an artery. They had to take her into emergency surgery and get a vein from her leg and build a new artery to keep my kidney in place. She could have died.”
