Rita Ora talks Jay-Z affair rumours and argues why she can’t be “Becky with the good hair”

"If I were Becky with the good hair, wouldn't I actually have to have good hair?"

Rita Ora has argued that she can’t be the infamous “Becky with the good hair” because her own hair is “all weave and extensions”.

On her track ‘Sorry’ from 2016’s ‘Lemonade’, Beyoncé famously addressed Jay-Z‘s infidelity, saying: “He only want me when I’m not there / He better call Becky with the good hair”. The lyrics led to fans speculating about who the pseudonymous “Becky” could be.

Speaking in a new interview with The Sunday Times, Ora said: “Hey, all I want to say to that is, dude, if I were Becky with the good hair, wouldn’t I actually have to have good hair? Look at it. It’s all weave and extensions.”

The singer also described Beyoncé as the “nicest, bestest person”, adding: “Nobody can ever say anything wrong about that woman in front of me. I get emotional just talking about it.”

Rita Ora previously addressed the speculation that she might be “Becky”, saying in 2016: “First and foremost, Jay Z is my inspiration and one of my idols – lyrically, musically, business-wise. I still look up to him and his wife every day. Beyoncé was one of my biggest idols growing up.”

Ora also tweeted earlier that year: “I never usually address tabloid gossip but let me be clear, these rumours are false. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Beyoncé. Let’s continue enjoying Lemonade.”
