Mogwai unveil first music from ‘KIN’ – the new film from the producers of ‘Stranger Things’

It's suitably atmospheric

Mogwai have unveiled ‘Donuts’, the first track to be taken from their soundtrack for the forthcoming movie KIN.

Having previously provided the soundtrack for documentaries including Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, KIN sees the Scottish post-rockers providing their first feature film soundtrack.

It’s suitably atmospheric too, with the band providing a dark and mysterious sound for the sci-fi/crime epic, which is set for release on August 31.

KIN is set in a mysterious future and follows the story of  a recently released ex-con and his younger brother, who are go on the run from a vengeful criminal, defending themselves using a mysterious weapon that harbours an equally elusive background.

It boasts an impressive cast including the likes of Zoe Kravitz, Dennis Quaid and James Franco, as well as production from Shawn Levy, who has been an executive producer on the first two seasons of Stranger Things.

Describing the band’s involvement earlier this year, Mogwai frontman Stuart Braithwaite told NME: ““It’s a different film for us. It’s sci-fi with a teenage guy leading the movie. There’s a lot of drama in it, so our music works pretty well with it.”
