Taylor Swift’s fans sent death threats to Dua Lipa online

"They're like, 'I hope you die.'"

Taylor Swift‘s fans reportedly sent death wishes to Dua Lipa after she revealed her love of Kanye West.

According to Rolling Stone, Lipa initially won the favour of Swift’s fans after she was spotted wearing the singer’s merchandise at a soundcheck in Germany.

The gesture even caught the attention of Swift herself, who posted “I AM SCREECHING WITH JOY” in direct response.

But the goodwill from her  fan base disappeared only a month later, when it transpired that Lipa had chosen Kanye West over Swift in a “cats-or-dog-style-quiz”.

“I wasn’t thinking about their beef,” Lipa told Rolling Stone of her choice.

“I was thinking about their music, and Taylor is amazing, but I’m such a hip-hop fan that I would probably choose Kanye over anyone.”

The choice proved extremely contentious for Swift’s fans, who proceeded to flood Lipa’s Instagram with snake emojis and, in some cases, wishing her dead.

“They were sending me snake emojis for, like, three days straight. They’re like, ‘I hope you die.’ I’m like, ‘Yo! I literally didn’t say anything'”, she explained.

Last week, Dua Lipa triumphed at the BRIT Awards, winning the award for Best Solo Artist.

“Thank you so, so much. I am grateful for this and so humbled”, she said as she accepted the gong.

“I want to thank every single female that has been on this stage before me and has given girls like me a place to be inspired by and [someone to] look up to and allow us to dream. Here’s to more women on these stages, winning these awards and taking over the world.”
