Justin Bieber claims ankle injury prevented him from completing community service

Bieber was sentenced to service after egging his neighbour's house last summer

Justin Bieber has claimed that an ankle injury has stopped him from completing his community service sentence.

The pop star, who was required to complete five days of community work in punishment for throwing eggs at his neighbour’s house in 2014, claimed an ankle injury sustained during a football match prevented him from doing so.

A report by probation officials said that Bieber provided a chiropractor’s note that proved he was told to stay off his feet for a week, The Guardian reports. The singer also said the other factors in missing the community service included time spent in the recording studio and the taping of TV shows. As a result, a judge has given him more time to comply with the sentence.

Bieber was originally ordered to complete five days of community service, attend 12 anger management sessions, and pay $80,900 damage to his neighbour.

Around the same time, he was also charged with assault and dangerous driving after crashing his all-terrain vehicle (ATV) into a minivan. The collision, which occurred near the singer’s hometown of Stratford, Ontario, led to a physical altercation between Bieber and the minivan’s driver.

The charges were the latest in a series of legal troubles for the singer, after he pleaded guilty to careless driving and resisting arrest following an incident last January. The Canadian is also charged with assaulting a limousine driver in Toronto on December 30, 2013.
