Smashing Pumpkins held open auditions in Los Angeles last Tuesday (April 14) to find a replacement for drummer Jimmy Chamberlin who quit the seminal Chicago grungers last month.And, according to a post on their official website, applicants for the vacant drum stool included System Of A Down/Scars On Broadway tub thumper John Dolmayan."In total, 12 drummers were auditioned on Tuesday," said the post. "An additional tryout could potentially be held in May due to such overwhelming response to the audition process."Overall, the drumming auditions were considered a very positive experience. The talent in all the drummers that tried out was incredible. Some of the candidates include John Dolmayan of System Of A Down."As previously reported, former Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, who was the only other original member of the band apart from frontman Billy Corgan, quit the Smashing Pumpkins in March stating he could no longer "just 'Cash the cheque,' so to speak."
