Miley Cyrus recorded backing vocals for “I Am Veronica,” a song on an unreleased Morrissey album called Bonfire Of Teenagers. In December, Morrissey revealed that Cyrus had asked to be removed from the song and that he was parting ways with Capitol, the record label that owns the unreleased album. Today Morrissey posted a lengthy statement at the website Morrissey Central, pushing back against speculation that Cyrus dropped off the song due to Morrissey’s politics. In the statement, Morrissey decries “Cancel Vultures,” denies that he has taken Far Right political stances, and insinuates an organized campaign to suppress his career after his ongoing support for the now-defunct far-right group For Britain, which sought to clamp down on immigration by Muslims.
