“The Sunset” is the Thermals’ follow-up to Desperate Ground-first single “Born To Kill.” The track is much more self-reflective than “Born To Kill” but is still packed with the same anthemic energy that post-pop punk demands. Check it out below. Desperate Ground is out 4/16 via Saddle Creek.

The Thermals’ saccharine, Winter Olympics-boosting paeon to the Great White North didn’t win the band any medals, though it’d work OK as a theme song for a Canadian kids show. The sturdier “Separate” comes from the band’s Record Store Day split 7″ with the Cribs. Take a listen...

The Thermals: - "Canada"
submitted by Nick Feb 9th 2010 11:00 pm (stereogum.com)
This week the world turns its attention to our northernly neighbor for Vancouver's 2010 Winter Olympics. Not everyone's enthused. Now in it's third year, Denver's Monolith Festival has laid out its plan to lure the mountain west region's indie minded music fans to Red Rocks for a noteworthy weekend of bloggable bands. The Thermals: @ Music Hall Of Williamsburg, Brooklyn 5/11/09

There are some great things about seeing a band like the Thermals. For one, you know you're gonna see at least twenty of your favorite The Thermals songs in one night. And even at a less-than-sold-out show that was a late-add to a pair of sold-out gigs Friday and Saturday, tired crowd and tired band, there wasn't a moment where Hutch and Kathy w...
