After going on hiatus in 2006, Kerrang! can reveal that Lowestoft's finest retro rockers The Darkness have reformed to play this year's Download festival. The original line-up - frontman Justin Hawkins, guitarist Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Ed Graham - will be main support to headliners Def Leppard on Friday, June 10. "A couple of years ago we heard the rumours that we were coming back and realised individually and collectively that that wasn't such a bad idea," laughs Justin. "We have no idea ourselves what to expect at Download, aside from the usual combination of nerves, determination and bewilderment... from all sides. In a good way!" Other new additions to the bill include Funeral For A Friend, Framing Hanley, Plain White T's, Kvelertak and rap rocker Hyro Da Hero. "Being asked to perform at Download is as awesome as walking on water," says Hyro. "I'm so excited. Donington, get ready!" Tickets for Download 2011 are now on sale from www.aloud.com.
