Members of Stoke-On-Trent City Council's Economic Development Overview And Scrutiny Committee will debate plans to erect statues of local musicians Slash and Lemmy next week. The plans came to the attention of the committee after local campaigners presented the council with a petition signed by 318 people calling for a permanent monument to honour the Motorhead frontman and the former Guns N' Roses guitarist.Lemmy was born and raised in the Burslem area of the city while Slash, who was born in London, lived in Stoke-On-Trent until he was six.A spokesman for the campaigners told ThisIsStaffordshire.co.uk: "We firmly believe it could be a landmark that is really quite individual and exclusive to the area, and would definitely be a popular attraction for fans of rock music worldwide."However a representative for the Economic Development Overview And Scrutiny Committee said that while they "would work with the campaigners, it is unlikely that they will be able to offer any funding for the project."
