According to drummer Matt Sorum, Velvet Revolver are potentially ready to unveil the replacement for frontman Scott Weiland who acrimoniously left the rock supergroup in 2008.The rock supergroup are apparently at the "dating" stage with a new singer reports Billboard."The guy we're liking now is a young guy, a very strong guy," he told the US magazine. "[He's] a little bit heavier rock 'n' roll than we are. He's a guy we've had our eye on [for a while], but the timing wasn't right."Sorum added that the band - guitarists Slash and Dave Kushner and bassist Duff McKagan - demoed some tracks with their new singer earlier this month and are planning to record more tracks in January. That said, Sorum adds that they haven't made a final decision as to whether or not this new guy is right for the band."We can't just jump out there with any singer," he said. "We've got to make the right decision. [We need] a guy who can front a rock band of this calibre and be a strong enough frontman to go out in front of Slash and be that guy. We need to hear that vocal, that lyric, that melody. It's not an easy thing."
