This track, from Born Ruffians’ new tour and digital EP, features Tokyo Police Club’s Dave Monks, for what must have been the most polite and self-effacing recording session of all time. It has been a little over a year since Born Ruffians dropped Birthmarks, and today they have a new video. Directed by Alphabrette, the “Oceans Deep” video captures a dark night filled with bright glowing puppets used by the band. Simulating big bioluminescent flies, they bounce around until they eventually come across an even...

“Permanent Hesitation,” a track from Ontario indie band Born Ruffians’ recent album Birthmarks, is a deeply twitchy song, and its video uses just-off split-screens to mirror that nervous energy. We see frontman Luke Lalonde throughout, but his image is chopped up and reassembled, like a paragraph that’s be...

Born Ruffians seem to be exorcising youth demons in their song “Needle” but its video is full of young, fun-loving YOLOing. Concert scenes are punctuated with rooftop hangs, late night taco truck stops, photobooth laughs, and more. Check it out below. (via Exclaim) Birthmarks is out now via Yep Roc.

Next week, the Ontario indie rockers Born Ruffians will release Birthmarks, their fourth album. And now the Montreal group Young Galaxy have remixed their single “Needle,” turning it into a jittery, echoing six-minute synthpop groove. Listen to the remix below. Birthmarks is out 4/16 on Yep Roc.

We heard a new Born Ruffians song at the very beginning of this year, but without many other details. With the release of the new single, “Needle,” we now know that the band will be back with a new album titled Birthmarks. In the months leading up to the album’s release they will be touring [...]
